LCP UK, part of M Core contributes to a vibrant new mural transforming graffiti hotspot at The Willows, Wickford

A prolific graffiti wall on the side elevation of The Willows in Wickford has been transformed into a vibrant town mural, the result of a collaboration between LCP UK, part of M Core, and Wickford Together, the town's Business Improvement District (BID).
The mural forms part of a wider initiative to improve the appearance and safety of Wickford town centre, and was delivered with support from M The Willows, Zap Arches Ltd (McDonald's), Wickford Together and Wickford in Bloom.
A community effort
The side elevation at The Willows had long been a target for graffiti, detracting from the appearance of the town centre. Rather than treating the issue in isolation, LCP UK, part of M Core worked with the BID and neighbouring businesses to turn the space into something the whole community could be proud of.
Local artist Chris Bardell was commissioned to design and paint the mural. The finished artwork has been well received by residents and visitors to Wickford, replacing a longstanding eyesore with a colourful addition to the high street.

Supporting a safer town centre
Alongside the mural, Wickford Together and the town council are installing two CCTV cameras in the town centre to help monitor anti-social behaviour. As part of the same initiative, remote monitoring capability is being added to the existing CCTV system at The Willows Centre, extending oversight of the site and contributing to a safer environment for shoppers, occupiers and the wider community.
A model for collaborative placemaking
The Wickford mural is a clear example of what can be achieved when landlords, local businesses and BIDs work together on shared priorities: improving the physical environment, supporting occupier confidence and strengthening the sense of place for the people who use the town centre every day.
