M Core acquires Eldon Gardens in Newcastle and Northfield Shopping Centre in Birmingham
"We are pleased to have secured both Eldon Garden and Northfield Shopping Centre, two well‑located assets serving established communities.
Both centres provide essential retail and everyday services. At Northfield, we are delighted to be welcoming Lidl, which will require significant investment and upgrading, alongside public realm improvements and investment in the façades to create an asset the local community can be proud of.
Our focus across both schemes will be on practical asset management, supporting occupiers and introducing uses that strengthen each location over time."
Sheet Anchor Evolve, part of M Core has acquired Eldon Garden in Newcastle city centre and Northfield Shopping Centre in Birmingham, strengthening its presence in two established and strategically located retail destinations. Both assets will be asset managed by Sheet Anchor Evolve, part of M Core.
Eldon Garden is an approximately 80,000 sq ft city centre shopping destination located on Percy Street, with direct access to Eldon Square and a 480‑space integrated car park. The scheme is arranged over three levels, comprising a shopping mall across two floors with prominent frontage onto Percy Street. Current occupiers include Tesco, The Goose Public House, Hunters Estate Agents, Mode Hairdressing and PureGym, alongside a central café and restaurant space. The centre is located close to St James’ Park and within walking distance of Newcastle Central Station, benefiting from strong public transport connectivity.
Northfield Shopping Centre comprises 138,472 sq ft across 43 units and two kiosks, located approximately six miles south of Birmingham city centre. The scheme serves a large and established catchment, including Longbridge, Bournville and Kings Norton, and occupies a prominent position in the heart of Northfield town centre.
Situated just moments from the high street, community facilities and Victoria Common, the centre sits at the centre of a well‑connected, community‑focused town centre in South Birmingham.
The centre is currently home to a mix of national and value‑focused retailers, including Greggs, JD Sports, Superdrug, Iceland, B&M and anchor tenants Peacocks and Poundland.
A multi‑storey car park providing circa 400 spaces serves both the shopping centre and the wider town centre.
Looking ahead, Lidl will deliver a significant redevelopment at Northfield Shopping Centre, representing substantial investment into the scheme. In addition, Sheet Anchor Evolve will be investing in upgrading the appearance and façades of the centre, enhancing the overall environment and presence within the town centre. As part of the improvement works, the former Wilko unit will be removed, creating space for a new public realm area designed to better serve the local community.
