RJ's Food Emporium, the brainchild of David Slozynski and his son Alex, will serve a range of sweet treats, such as cakes, muffins and scones, as well as hot pancakes with sweet fillings, plus hot and cold drinks.

The family said they wanted to open a café to help enhance the feeling of a local community hub.

David said: "Concourse Kitchen is the ideal location for us to start our business. The Concourse is a place that all local people know and come shopping to and we wanted to add a high-quality, café-style eatery, where you can sit and relax with friends and family in a friendly setting and enjoy really good food. It's a superb addition to the Concourse Shopping Centre and we can hardly wait to welcome customers."

RJ's Emporium joins JOCs, which opened in autumn last year and serves a selection of light bites, including jacket potatoes, New York-style hotdogs and seasonal dishes.

The double-fronted

1,597 sq ft

unit, which overlooks the centre's grounds, comprises four affordable food outlets and seating for approximately 40 diners.

Concourse centre manager Gary Mitchell said: "It's satisfying to see yet another local, independent food operator opening at the Concourse Shopping Centre. We've been pleased with the response from shoppers to the Concourse Kitchen so far and we know they'll welcome another vendor."

Each kiosk is 68 sq ft and has its own water, drainage and electricity supplies and is secured with shutters. Concourse Kitchen will be open throughout the normal centre trading hours.
